An Icey winter

Walking through the halls of your school and making your way to your locker, you wished for the winter holidays to come soon

'I'm tired of tests and homework' You thought as you sighed.

“Hey, ______!” Your Danish friend Mathias screamed at you from behind. He was accompanied by the mysterious Norwegian, Lukas and the (cute and sometimes grumpy) Icelandic, Emil.

“Matty! Nice to see you, and you too guys!” You said, nodding to the two brothers. Lukas just nodded back and Emil looked away mumbling something between the lines of “You too”.

“Is something wrong?” you asked at Mathias.

“Yes! I've been looking out for you to give you this!” He said with a big smile and handing you an envelope.

“What's this?” You said looking down at it with curiosity.

“It's an invitation to our New Year party.” Said quietly Lukas.

“And we are going to celebrate it here in school!” Interrupted the Danish. You could see how Lukas was scowling behind the tall Dane.

“That's nice of you, guys. Thank you for the invitation! I will be glad to come. But I have a question... who else is going to come?”

“We wanted to do it in our house with our closest friends but this fool” Lukas said pointing at Mathias with a scowl “...wanted it to be here with all our classmates. Tino thought it was a good idea and Berwald agreed with it.”

“Three out of five of us wanted it to be here so I guess we didn't have a choice.” Finally spoke Emil and you looked at the two brothers with a sympathetic look.

“Anyway~” Interrupted the tall Dane “We need to get going. We still have a lot of invitations to deliver so, see you _______!”

“Bye guys! And good luck with the preparations!” You waved at them as they walked away. What you didn't see was that certain guy turned around to see you one more time and was interrupted by his brother poking him in the cheek.

“Tell me big brother”

“NO”

~Time-Skip~

It'smore than a week since you crossed with the guys and you were finishing with all your homework after lots of boring hours of reading and doing exercises.

“Finally!” You exclaimed, putting the pen down.

You stretched your arms and stood up from your chair, you looked up at your desk that was filled with papers and pencils everywhere and sighed.

“I'll clean all this later. For now, I want a break” You decided and walked out of your room only to sit down on your comfy couch. Turning on the T.V you thought it was better to have some food with you, so making your way to the kitchen, you thought that maybe a hot chocolate for such a cold day wasn't bad at all.

After making it and returning to the couch, you sighed in content and started to relax.

It didn't last much because your peace was disturbed by your cellphone.

“Ugh...” You groaned in discontent and answered trying your best not to sound displeased.

“Hello? Who is it?”

“Hello ______, I hope I'm not disturbing you.” You heard from the other side. It was Emil your classmate and friend from school, also current crush.

“Oh, no you didn't. Don't worry. Is there something I can do for you?” You said this time more kindly, after all your sad or angry face transformed every time you'd hear Emil's quiet voice.

“Well, yes there is. You see, we are kind of belated with the party's preparations because unfortunately I got sick and I can't help too much.”

“Oh, that's a shame! Are you okay, though?”

“Yes, don't worry it's just a cold but you know how overprotective my big- I mean Lukas gets when something happens to me. So he wanted me to rest until I recover.”

“I see...”

“Anyway, I called to ask you if you could replace me and help the others in my absence.”

“Sure! As long as you rest and recover there's no problem. Besides, I already finished with my homework and I was going to have some free and boring days so I guess that being busy with something will come just fine!” You smiled.

“Heh, always so cheerful. Thank you, _______. I'll be going now, see you soon!”

“Bye...” You said kind of dizzy, hearing him laugh or at least smile and knowing that you were the responsible of it, made you really happy.

Moments later, you received a message from Emil.

Emil: The guys are going to the school tomorrow at 09:00 A.M to continue with the preparations. They have everything they need there so you don't have to bring anything. I forgot to mention it

Smiling at his clumsiness you responded back:

_____: It's okay, thank you for telling me. I'll be there tomorrow Bye!

After that, you continued with your relaxation, thinking on your planes for tomorrow.

~Time Skip ~

After having a rushed morning because your alarm clock somehow run out of battery, you finally made it to the school. Fifteen minutes late, but you did it.

“I'm sorry for the delay!” You said as you opened one of the doors of the gym. The party was going to be thrown there.

“Hey _______!” Smiled Tino and waved at you from his place. He was helping Berwald with some tables and chairs.

“Mmh” Nodded the quiet Berwald with a tiny smile.

“Hello guys!” You said with a smile and left your things on the floor.

“______!!!!!” A wild Dane ran screaming at you and hugged you.

“H-hello Ma-Mathias. Ugh!” You were trying to breath but his hug was strangling you.

“Dane leave the poor girl go! You are going to kill her.” Suddenly said the quiet Lukas, slapping the tall guy in his head.

“Ouch, don't need to be violent.” Mathias said rubbing his head and letting you go.

“Thank you, Lukas.” You said with a smile after recovering air and he nodded.

“Sooo, what can I do to help you guys? After all I see that you really need some help here.” You said looking around.

“This is all we still have to do.” Said Lukas handing you a to do list.

It was necessary to place the decorations, build and decorate the tables that Berwald brought, clean the floor, make sure that the audio was ready as well as the lights of colors and that was just the beginning. Tino and Lukas had still to prepare sweets and food for dinner, Berwald needed to take the clothes of his friends and his to the laundry and Mathias had still to check the playlist for the party. As for Emil's part, he was in charge of the drinks and fireworks that Leon was going to provide.

“W-wow. There IS a lot of things to do.” You said.

“And less than a week to do it. That's why we needed some help _____” Said Tino.

“Don't worry guys! I'll do my best this 5 days and we will have the best New Year party ever made!” You said with enthusiasm and the guys smiled at you.

“Yeah! Let's go to wooork!!!!” Screamed Mathias and you started with your chores.

~Time Skip~

It's been 3 days and you finished with the gym decoration, you helped Lukas with the decorations of the place, Berwald was happy that you took your time arranging the tables and chairs, Tino was more than pleased with the cleaning and Mathias was relieved that you helped him with the audio and lights.

But there were still things to do. Today, you had to help with the music and call Leon to ask him about the fireworks but seeing that you didn't have his phone number, you decided to call Emil and ask for it.

After some moments of hearing nothing but the bip, you decided to try again.

Bip

Nope, no answer.

'Why he's not answering the phone?' You thought a little worried, but noticing that he won't answer you decided to pay a visit to him.

Knock knock

“Emil, it's me, ______. Open the door!” You screamed from outside.

After a minute of standing in front of the door you started to hear shuffle from the other side and soon the door opened revealing Emil covered with a blanket, a pair of slippers and a red nose and cheeks.

“Hello _______, please come in.” He said.

You entered in the house and looked at your crush worried.

“Are you okay Emil? I thought that you would be recovered by now but you sound worst than when you called me three days ago.”

“Yes, I'm fine. I just- achoo!- I need some more rest and I'll be better.” He said, sitting on his couch and motioning you with the hand to do the same.

“Anyway, what's the reason of your visit? I thought that you were helping the others.” He said rather confused.

“Oh, I came to ask you for Leon's phone number. I don't have it and I thought you'd have it but you didn't answer your phone and I worried about you so I came to see if everything was fine and-”

“______. Please calm down. My phone ran out of battery and I'm fine. I just need some rest. As for Leon's phone number, it must be on that agenda.” He said pointing out to one agenda that was placed on the coffee table in front of you.

“Wow, you still have one of those?” You said laughing.

“Shut up...” He muttered.

You ignored him and grabbed the agenda, searching for Leon's number. After finding it and saving it in your phone you looked at Emil beside you. You were surprised at the sight of your friend sleeping soundly on the couch.

Smiling sweetly you thought that it was better for you to stay there with him the rest of the day.

'I think the guys won't mind. After all they want their friend recovered as well' You thought and went to the kitchen to prepare some tea with lemon and honey for him.

After spending the rest of your day with a fretful Emil, because he was feeling like a kid with you taking care of him and because he thought it would be the best for you to stay away from him not only because he would infect you but also because the guys needed you more than him, you returned home and sent a message to Mathias explaining why you didn't went to help him with the music.

Mathias: It's okay! I bet that Emil was really happy to have you with him

______: What are you talking about? o.O

Mathias: Oh~ You'll see it soon min ven (my friend), anyway see you tomorrow! We still have one day to prepare things and most of the sweets are already prepared as well as our clothes. Come to Tino's house tomorrow, we are going to prepare the cake and also I'll help you with the drinks.

______: Sounds cool! See you then!

The next day you went to Tino's house to help with the cake, after that you went to buy some drinks with Mathias, who finally finished with the playlist as well, and after that, you called Leon to arrange the fireworks topic.

Finally everything was done and the only thing left was to take all the food and drinks to school and start with the party. Sighing in relief you received a hot chocolate that Lukas prepared for everyone and rested there for a minute.

But soon your eyes snapped open and you remembered that you didn't have anything to wear for the party.

“What am I going to use that night?!” You facepalmed and the guys smiled at you.

“Uh? What's so funny guys?!” You asked, surprised.

“Well, the thing is...” Tino started.

“That you don't have to worry about it!” Smiled Mathias.

“What?” You asked.

“We already solved that.” Said Berwald.

“How?!”

“We didn't tell you, but Emil recovered after your visit, so...” Lukas said.

“We asked him if he could go and buy a dress for you!” Tino smiled.

“With help of some... friends.” Finished Berwald.

“W-why?!” You asked surprised.

“It's in gratitude for your big help, not only you helped us but also you helped Emil!” Said Mathias patting you in the back.

“I... I don't know what to say! Thank you so much guys!” You smiled brightly.

“No problem, we already sent it to your house so when you go home, tell us if you liked it!” Tino smiled.

You nodded happily and after sharing some other words with your friends, you went home.

~Time skip~

Finally the day of the party came and you were really nervous.

You took a taxi to your school and when you entered in the gym everyone greeted you. It was full of people! Some of them drinking, others talking, or eating and others dancing. The music, lights, decoration, food, actually everything was perfect and you were satisfied with the work you did with the guys.

Looking around happily you didn't notice that someone was getting closer to you until that person tapped you in the shoulder.

Turning around you smiled brightly and blushed at the sight of Emil, who was fully recovered and smiling at you.

“Hello ___. You look beautiful.”

“Emil! Thank you, you l-look good too” You said with a blush.

“You really did an amazing job with the party, everything is wonderful.” He said looking around.

“Well, I didn't do it alone, you know?”

“O-oh right.” He said quite embarrassing. The conversations between the two of you sometimes were rather awkward because none of you would know what to say. This was one of those times.

“Umm _____, w-would you like to go outside?” Emil said, extending his hand to you.

“S-sure!” You smiled taking his hand and followed him.

Once outside you both looked at the dark sky and the snow falling down.

“It's kind of cold. Are you sure you want to be here? You can get sick again.” You said worried.

“Is okay, I will just need another of your teas and I'll be like new.” He smiled and you blushed.

“Thank you for taking care of me the other day. And... sorry if I was a bit grumpy.” He said looking away.

“It's okay, I understand that you weren't in your best mood. I would be like that as well.” You smiled and he returned the smile.

“Everyone please come to the center for a special dance!” Said Mathias through the microphone.

“I think we should go inside” You said and took Emil's hand in yours. Your heart started to beat faster and you could feel a blush coming to your face, but you weren't the only one. Emil was trying not to blush in front of you but your hand in his was enough to warm not only his face but his heart as well.

When you were finally inside, a song started to play and you realized it was a slow song.

You and Emil blushed and looked around seeing how mostly of the people was dancing with their partners.

“Umm, do you want to dance?” Asked Emil awkwardly.

“S-sure...” You replied and put your hands around his neck and he put his on your waist. You gulped nervously when he did so and you started to dance.

Slowly you put your head on his shoulder and your face on his neck. He tensed a little but then relaxed, feeling your breath on his neck.

“You know Emil... I really like you.” You suddenly said while you danced and he smiled.

“I like you too _______” He said and pulled you closer to him.

The clock struck twelve and people started to cheer.

“Happy new year Emil”

“Happy new year _____” He said and gave you a kiss on the lips.

From afar Mathias was cheering, Tino and Berwald were smiling and Lukas was almost crying.

“They grow up so fast...” He whispered.

“They look so cute together, don't you think Su-san?” Smiled Tino.

“Mhh.” Berwald nodded.

“This is all thanks to the king of Northern Europe, me! Hahaha!” Laughed Mathias and Lukas grabbed him from the tie.
